Ramadan day 15 - discipline with dignity.
We think discipline always requires a stick, or physical violence and loud voices.
That is not the prophetic example.
The Prophet ﷺ would always use his wisdom when correcting others. He would not single out the individual, but try to reason why they should or shouldn’t do something. If you try to discipline with harshness, you’re showing a lack of self control, and that same methodology will be passed down to your children.
Like father, like son.
If you keep yourself calm, and correct in a calm manner, they are more likely to internalize what you said. Yelling only causes people to panic, and their stressed emotional state is not suited to retain information well.
You might be tired, hungry, and feel weaker in Ramadan due to fasting, but don’t let that incite you into a rage.
Even worse - the next time your kids mess up, they won’t tell you because they know how you react. They need to know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are there to help them, and there is NO ONE else on this planet that is looking out for their best interests.
